iGaming Operators in UK to Verify Customers ID
The UK regulator tightens identity verification requirements for licensed igaming operators from May 7. They will be required to verify the customers identity before allowing them to gamble in comparison with the previous verification requirements when the licensees had 72 hours to carry out the age check.
According to new restrictions operators will have to collect information such as; customer’s name, address and date of birth before the player will be able to make a deposit in their account or even use free-to-play games. The operators will also have to inform users about the purposes and circumstances when their personal data can be used and make sure the individual’s verification information is up-to-date.
The Gambling Commission stated that these tightened registration requirements would help consumers withdraw their winnings without unnecessary delay caused by additional documents submission and protect children from any gambling-related detriment.
