Request More Information

The Residence Programme, launched in 2014, aims at attracting EU/EEA/Swiss nationals who are not permanent residents in Malta to take up residency in Malta by also offering successful applicants a special tax status.

  1. Schengen Travel

The Programme allows visa-free travel within the Schengen Area.

  1. 2. Right of Residence

Successful applicants enjoy an indefinite right to reside and stay in Malta provided that the eligibility criteria are constantly satisfied. The applicant and his dependents are also able to work, study and conduct business in Malta.

  1. Tax Benefits
  • Flat tax rate of 15% applicable to income arising outside Malta which is remitted to Malta.
  • No Malta Tax is charged on income sourced outside of Malta and not remitted to Malta.

  • Income and Capital Gains sourced in Malta will be subject to tax at the rate of 35%.

Beneficiaries under this programme are however subject to a minimum of €15,000 tax payable which covers tax payable by the beneficiary and the dependants. Malta boasts over 60 Double taxation treaties, some of which are with non-EU countries such as Canada, Australia and the USA, ensuring that the same income is never taxed by both local and foreign authorities.
