On Tuesday 17th April 2018, the Maltese government welcomed another blockchain company, Neufund. This Berlin-based Ethereum blockchain based company, Neufund works by allowing companies to issue tokens raising money through the blockchain platform. In addition, companies working on the mentioned platform issue tokens similar to shares of stock. Moreover, Neufund blockchain platform is open to any companies operating or not on blockchain technology.

Neufund together with Parliamentary Secretary Silvio Schembri had successful talks confirming their intention to open a satellite office in Malta.

Only last February the Maltese government made public his intention to pass regulations on Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT). After a public consultation with major stakeholders in the industry, the government is preparing to introduce this upcoming legislation.

Neufund CEO is helping the Maltese government pass the DLT law.

In a statement Neufund Chief Executive Officer Zoe Adamovicz said:

“We are impressed by the work done so far by the Maltese government and its pro-new technology stance. Malta should serve as a model for other countries and regulators. We are excited to contribute to building strong and stable blockchain ecosystem on Malta.”

Additionally, Ms Adamovicz stated that by choosing this “progressive-thinking EU member state”, Neufund will help the government to pass these “crypto-friendly laws”.

The proposed DLT law has already attracted two leading crypto exchange companies, Binance and OKEx, to relocate their offices to Malta. Together with the addition of Neufund, Malta will continue to welcome more blockchain based companies resulting in “a complete blockchain ecosystem.”

Hon. Silvio Schembri added: “I am overwhelmed by the response so far since this government decided to take the lead in this new emergent sector driven by new technology which will eventually make Malta the blockchain island.”
